  • “Stories of Life” is commonly known as mobi-sodes in our team. The idea is to introduce a similar concept like episodes to the young generation in a private mobile screen. Mobi-sodes is a venture to reach out to the young people at their most vulnerable point of time i.e. between ages 13 to 19. NEEDS, intends to address this vulnerability in a positive way by making educative video clippings to enhance the knowledge, skill and information of young people for their informed choice.

Using small video clippings as “Stories of Life” as a tool in communication and development interventions involves:

    • Listening to the concerns of adolescents through formation of young people’s platform
    • Communicating the messages and supporting information in simple facts for life in interesting and constructive videos that are relevant to a particular context
    • Dealing with the questions, anxieties, regarding adolescent issues and myths and misconceptions that affect them the most.
  • Adolescence is the period when many young people begin to explore concepts on sexuality, gender, puberty, attraction, body change etc. Access to correct information and proper services is necessary for their growth.
  • Young people can refer to this practical source of information in a private screen of their mobile handsets which help them to answers their unasked questions related to sex and sexuality, rights and their health. The challenge is to ensure that every adolescent knows and understands the facts of life, body, gender, violence, abuses etc. and is motivated to adapt best practices.
  • Adopting a new knowledge and skill leads to a continual cycle of awareness, experimentation and repetition makes a person a leader in his or her field.

We want to exercise this ability in the form of peer leaders which these individuals may turn into through Mobi-sodes leading this project. We believe that their knowledge, skill and information are vital in the process of a social change in favour of their quality of living.

As individuals, young people might go through different stages in change. These stages include:

    • Not being aware
    • Becoming aware
    • Getting motivated to try something new
    • Adopting a new skill
    • Becoming a PEER LEADER to motivate their peer with the same skill

A peer to peer sharing would multiply the knowledge and new skill adoption. Right knowledge would influence practices that may result in a social change, a change in behaviour and everyday practices.

  • 10 peer group for girls and 10 peer group for boys in 7 Panchayats and 14 villages of the Palajori block directly.

We have identified, selected and trained 10 ARIs (5 boys and 5 girls) from the 10 villages and 6 Panchayats of Palajori

We have identified, selected and trained 10 Adolescent Research Investigators from the 10 villages and 2 Panchayats of Palajori. They lead their respective groups in the villages with their peers being the peer leaders; they bring into the page the sexual and reproductive health issues for boys and girls in the villages.

We tend to discuss sexuality in a broader aspect through the Stories of Life program, it includes the value system of the society, and the demarcated gendered roles in villages which tend to remain as discriminating for boys as for girls.

The zeal to build in a group, work together and understand the adolescent needs pours in the positivity in every session where the group is free to discuss, share, ideate and act upon. These teen circles are United against Child Marriage (UaCM) and take radical steps to stop Child Marriage in their villages. They speak individually to parents, collectively as a group; and have Nukkad Nataks to raise awareness on social issues.

The innovative part tends to be the concept of the platform through which adolescents gets closer to their fellow mates and figure out their vulnerability, identifies the questions triggering in each young mind.
